Seongsu-dong Guide: Cafe Street, Pop-Up Stores, Shopping & Seoul Forest
October 13, 2026 | by Korea Bestie
Seongsu-dong (성수동) is the old factory and shoe-workshop district east of central Seoul. Over the past decade its warehouses have turned into cafés, galleries, fashion stores and the city’s busiest stretch of brand pop-ups. You’ll often hear it called the “Brooklyn of Seoul.” The comparison fits better than most.
Last checked: October 2026. Seongsu’s pop-ups and shops change every few weeks — check each brand’s Instagram before you go.

If you only have half a day, this guide shows you how to get there, which street to start on, how pop-ups work, and how to finish in Seoul Forest.

Yeonmujang-gil: Seongsu’s cafe street

Yeonmujang-gil (연무장길) and the side lanes off it hold most of the cafés, concept stores and pop-ups. Many cafés sit in converted factories and warehouses with high ceilings, exposed brick and big communal tables. The look is half the reason people come.
- Most cafés open around 11:00 AM. Early mornings are quiet.
- Weekend afternoons mean queues at the famous spots. On a weekday you’ll usually walk straight in.
- Expect to pay by card or phone. Some places are cashless.
- Finding cafés: Naver Map has the most up-to-date listings and opening hours in Korea. Search “성수 카페” (Seongsu café) and sort by reviews.
Seongsu pop-up stores: how they work
Seongsu is where fashion, beauty, K-pop and tech brands launch temporary stores, often several in the same week. A few things to know:
- Announcements come late. Most pop-ups are announced only 2–3 weeks ahead, usually on the brand’s Instagram. Search the brand name plus “Seongsu pop-up” a few days before your visit.
- Most are free. Some need online pre-registration or a queue ticket, especially on weekends and for K-pop pop-ups.
- Freebies and photo zones are common. Some hand out samples to people who follow the brand’s account.

Shopping in Seongsu
Seongsu is one of the best areas in Seoul for Korean designer fashion and K-beauty concept stores. Many local labels run flagship or showroom stores here, and several beauty brands have experience stores where you can test products before buying. Keep your passport handy, because larger stores offer tax refunds on purchases over the minimum amount.
Seoul Forest (서울숲)

A short walk west of the café streets, Seoul Forest is a large free park with lawns, tree-lined paths and ponds. It’s a good place to rest your legs between cafés. Use Seoul Forest Station (Suin-Bundang Line) or Ttukseom Station (Line 2), or just walk over from Seongsu. In autumn, the ginkgo and maple paths turn bright yellow and red.
